Lime Springs - Donna Leverson, age 89 of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away on April 7, 2019 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donna was born on Sept. 26, 1929 in Fillmore County, Minnesota to Milton and Gladys (Hovey) Cheney. Her family later moved to Lime Springs. She went to school until the eighth grade and had to quit to help support her family.
Donna married Harold Leverson on July 26, 1946. They started their married life in Lime Springs before moving north of town to farm. She helped on the farm as much as possible. After moving back into town, she worked at the Locker, Town and Country and finally Peggy’s Place.
Donna enjoyed her gardens, crocheting, embroidery, quilting and always a good chat with whoever she could find along the way. She also enjoyed her special shopping trips with her sisters.
She had a special place in her heart for her family.
Donna is survived by her children, Marilyn Balk and Bruce (Amy) Leverson; grandchildren, Brian (Nancy) Balk, Brenda Mackenburg, Kris (Tom) Omar, Michael (Brooke) Leverson, Mathew Leverson and Anna Mae Leverson; great-grandchildren, Alicia Mackenburg, Breanne Balk, Bethany Balk, Alex Mackenburg, Baylee Balk, Noah Holland, Mason Leverson and Emma Leverson; step-grandchildren, Lydia Melaas, Becky Melaas and Mitchell Melaas; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Dale, Lori and Charlene and the staff at the Evans Memorial Home.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son-in-law, Willard Balk; and siblings, Jean Terbeest, Betty Mohs, Marley Cheney and Roger Cheney.
