CRESCO - Catharine Holstrom, age 91, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019 at Accura HealthCare in Cresco with her family by her side.
Family and friends are invited to gather for funeral services on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 at Cresco First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Coffee and dessert to follow. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
Catharine was born on Dec. 21, 1927 in Cresco, the daughter of Malcolm and Orpha (Miles) Culbert. She graduated from Cresco High School and then from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics.
She married Dale Holstrom in 1955 and moved to Minneapolis in 1956. The couple returned to Cresco in 1976, when they purchased Leo’s Jewelry Store and eventually changed the name to Holstrom’s Gift and Jewelry. During her retirement, Catharine enjoyed painting and became an accomplished artist.
Left to honor and remember her love are her husband, Dale; daughters, Deborah (Richard) Forslund of Edina, Minn. and Sue Holstrom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Jim (Barb) Holstrom of Cresco; grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, Jennifer, Christopher and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Cole, Alivia, Landen, Natalie, Finley, Brandon and Harrison; and a sister, Martha (Maury) Kramer; as well as many nieces and nephews and countless good and faithful friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
