Crestwood girls ground FC, Oelwein; lose to No. 2 Dubuque Wahlert

CRESCO - The Crestwood softball team concluded the regular season with a thrilling 9-4 win over Forest City on July 7 at Forest City.
After a difficult start, the Crestwood varsity softball team rallied to beat the Oelwein Huskies, 7-3, in the first round of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at home on July 9.
Facing Class 3A No. 2 ranked Dubuque Wahlert on July 11 at the University of Dubuque, the Cadets were unable to slow down the Golden Eagles as Wahlert earned a 10-0 win in four innings. The loss ended Crestwood’s season at 27-6 overall.
Dubuque Wahlert (34-6) will face Osage (24-3) in the region final on July 14 at the University of Dubuque.
CW 9, FC 4
Crestwood broke a four-all tie game with one run in the sixth and four more in the seventh on their way to a 9-4 win over Forest City on July 7.
Ainsley Teeling had four hits, including three doubles and one home run, two runs, one stolen base and two runs batted in. Taylor Reis had one single and one run. Jordyn Fisk had one double and two RBI.
Isabella Schlatter had one run and one stolen base. Makenzie Gallagher had one single, one run and one stolen base. Peyton Ullom had one run and one single.
Julianna Fisk had two hits, including one double and one RBI. Laina Polashek had one single and one RBI. Braelyn McCarville, Braylee Teeling and Alivia Schatz each had one run. Kate Schwade had one stolen base.
Kiernan Ruppert was the winning pitcher. She tossed three innings, allowed one hit, no runs, two walks and struck out six. Ainsley Teeling went four innings, allowed three hits, four runs (two earned), two walks, hit one batter and struck out three.

CW 7, Oelwein 3
Oelwein took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first before Crestwood rallied for five runs in the bottom of the first on its way to a 7-3 win over the Huskies in the first round of the region tourney on July 9.
Husky senior Aspen Weir ripped a two-run home run in the top of the first to give visiting Oelwein an early 2-0 lead.
The lead didn’t last long, however, as the Cadets stormed back with five runs in the bottom of the first to take a 5-2 lead. Ainsley Teeling singled to drive in Isabella Schlatter. Makenzie Gallagher ripped a double to drive in courtesy runner Braylee Teeling and Taylor Reis. Braelyn McCarville scored on a wild pitch. Laina Polashek reached on an error to score Gallagher.
After Oelwein scored one run in the third, the Cadets got that run back in the fifth on a solo home run by Gallagher to make the score 6-3.
Crestwood tallied one more run in the sixth when Taylor Reis singled to drive in Isabella Schlatter to push the lead to 7-3.
Schlatter finished the game with two runs, two hits and four stolen bases. Ainsley Teeling had two hits and one run batted in. Taylor Reis had one single, one run and one RBI.
Makenzie Gallagher had two hits, including one double, one home run, two runs and three RBI. Peyton Ullom had two singles. Laina Polashek had one single and one RBI. Braelyn McCarville and Braylee Teeling each had one run. Braylee Teeling had one stolen base.
Ainsley Teeling was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings, allowed seven hits, three earned runs, one walk and struck out five.

The Golden Eagles grabbed a 4-0 lead after two innings and soared to a 10-0 win over Crestwood in four innings in the region semifinal on July 10.
In the bottom of the second inning, Wahlert’s Julia Roth ripped a grand slam to center field to give the Golden Eagles a 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Wahlert’s Hayley Lang scored on a Cadet throwing error. After the Golden Eagles loaded the bases, Ruth Tauber crushed a grand slam to center to give Wahlert a 9-0 lead.
The Golden Eagles scored one run in the fourth on an error to win the game, 10-0.
Isabella Schlatter had one single for the Cadets. Julianne Fisk tallied one single.
Ainsley Teeling was the losing pitcher. She went 3.2 innings, allowed 10 hits, 10 earned runs, three walks and struck out one.
Julia Roth was the winning pitcher for Wahlert. She went four innings, allowed two hits, no runs, no walks and struck out six.
Tauber had two hits, including one home run, and four RBI for Wahlert. Roth had two hits, including one home run and four RBI. Addison Klein had two hits. Hayley Lang had two hits and two runs.
