Crestwood girls' softball team sweeps SW, WC; earns share of UIC title

CALMAR - The Crestwood softball team earned a doubleheader sweep against South Winn on June 29, winning game one, 11-0; and edging the Warriors in game two, 4-3.

Facing West Central on the road on July 1, the Cadets swept two games, 11-1 and 14-1, to tie for first place with New Hampton (20-2) in the Upper Iowa Conference Big Division for the 2026 season. The Cadets will host Oelwein on July 9 in the first round of the region tourney at 7 p.m. The winner will play either Dubuque Wahlert or Waukon on July 11 at 5 p.m. at Dubuque Wahlert. The winner of the July 11 game will play in the region final on July 14 at a site to be determined.

 

CW 11, SW 0 (G1)

In game one, Crestwood scored six runs in the third on their way to an 11-0 win in four innings.

Julianne Fisk had two hits, one run and three runs batted in. Jordyn Fisk had two hits, including one double and two RBI. Makenzie Gallagher had one double, two runs and two RBI.

Laina Polashek had one double and two RBI. Ava Daley had one single, one run and one stolen base. Taylor Reis had two hits, including one double. Isabella Schlatter had one run. Braeyln McCarville had two runs.

Ainsley Teeling was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, allowed two hits, no runs, no walks and struck out 10.

CW 4, SW 3 (G2)

In game two, Crestwood held off a late rally by the Warriors to win, 4-3.

Schlatter had two hits, two stolen bases and one run. Ainsley Teeling had one single and one run. Taylor Reis had one single and one RBI.

Jordyn Fisk had two singles. Makenzie Gallagher had two singles and one RBI. Peyton Ullom had one double and one RBI. Laine Polashek had one single. Braylee Teeling had one run. Kate Schwade had one stolen base.

Kiernan Ruppert was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, allowed three hits, three runs (two earned), six walks and struck out five. Ainsley Teeling went three innings, allowed four hits and struck out five.

In the first game, Crestwood tallied six runs in the third on their way to an 11-1 in four innings.

Schlatter posted two hits, including one double, two runs, three RBI and one stolen base. Ainsley Teeling had two hits and two walks. Taylor Reis had one single, one run and two walks.

Ainsley Teeling was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, allowed two hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out seven.

In game two, Crestwood built a 7-0 lead after two innings and won easily, 14-1, in four innings.
