Donald Webster, 87 of Ames, Iowa passed peacefully in his sleep on June 21, 2025. He was born to Donald and Grace (Lindsay) Webster on January 10, 1938. He was the youngest of five, growing up on a farm just outside Cresco, IA.
Beamer attended school in Cresco, then went on to graduate from Iowa State University. He was the first in his family to graduate with a 4-year degree. He was a wrestler, winning two state individual titles for Cresco, also earning All-American honors in college, placing 4th at 115 lbs. in 1961.
He married Carol Schulz and they had a son, Brian. They were divorced, and on June 14, 1975, he married Kathryn Rasmussen Eischen, who brought two children into the union, Tammy and Mike. It was a merging of two families. Beamer enjoyed being with family, and spending time on Bob & Ann Webster’s farm in Northeast Iowa.
He worked various construction jobs through the years including 10 years of his life with Graham Construction before he retired in 2000. He was involved with Local Union 177, including being a union representative for many years.
His hobbies include fishing, hunting, camping and sports, especially ISU Cyclones. He was a big fan of the ISU Women’s Basketball team. He enjoyed many hours beside the cool trout streams in Northeast Iowa.
Beamer is survived by Kathy, his loving wife of 50 years, son Brian Webster and daughter Tammy Kratz both of Ames, IA, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Grace, son, Mike Eischen, and his four siblings, William (Bunny), Charlie, Bob, and Betty.
Memorial services were held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames on July 1, 2025 with a committal at the Roland Cemetery.
