CRESCO - Irven Reicks, age 92, of Cresco, Iowa, died on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Cresco, IA. Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:15 - 12 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the church before mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
Irven Reicks was born on March 20, 1933, the youngest son of Anton and Mary (Leferink) Reicks. After high school, he joined the United States Army on June 7, 1954, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant; he was stationed in Fort Lee, VA, Fort Leonardwood, MO, and Texas. He was united in marriage to Norma Scheidel on June 23, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Schley, Iowa. After returning home from the military, he worked at Rath Waterloo for one year where his first child, DaRhonda, was born. He and Norma then moved to Cresco where Brenda and Randy were born.
Irven loved working outdoors, farming, milking cows, mowing his big lawn, riding his UTV, and planting his field of sweet corn to share with many. No meal was complete without dessert. Irven and Norma spent many winters in Arizona where they made many friends. In October of 2024 he moved to Evans Assisted Living.
He is survived by his daughter Brenda (Kevin) Valley; son Randy (Karry) Reicks; grandsons Andrew (Krystal) Schatz, Aaron (Melissa) Schatz, Tanner Reicks (Grace Franta), and Skylar Reicks; great grandchildren Lucas and Lynden Schatz and Nolan and Alanna Schatz; brother-in-law Norman Scheidel.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Norma in 2024; his parents; daughter, DaRhonda; grandson Timothy; brothers Leonard and Bernie; sisters Rita and Edith; sisters and brothers-in-law.
The family asks memorials to be sent to Howard Cancer Association and extends a special thank you to the staff at Evans Assisted Living and Howard County Hospice for their excellent care.
