Duane "Steve" Dvorak age 69 of Elma, IA died Sunday, February 9, 2025, at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton with Rev. Telesphore Dusabe officiating.

Friends may greet the family from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home in New Hampton.

Duane Steven (Steve) Dvorak was born February 24, 1955, to Truman and Mary (Mitchell) Dvorak in Riceville, Iowa.  He moved with his family to Lourdes, Iowa in 1960 where he grew up farming, milking cows, and raising pigs with his dad and brother.  He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and graduated from New Hampton Community School, class of 1973.  He attended one semester at NIACC and worked 2 years at Oliver Factory in Charles City before he began farming and raising hogs.  He later ran a trucking firm.

Steve enjoyed his time off.  He loved his boat and would take any opportunity with family and friends to boat on the Mississippi and other smaller lakes.  His favorite part was the potluck and all the food that was included.  He loved reunions and a good 'cherry dessert.'  Family was a big deal to Steve.  He'd plan a Christmas at his house, and a birthday for his Mom (with a lot of help from his sister...) but the pictures and memories to follow were definitely to be treasured.  He loved to collect antiques, especially his vintage cars and tractors.  He was also the proud owner of a 2-seater porche from the 1980s...always a conversation starter.

He loved his German Shepherds and all his dogs. His favorite dog was his German Shepherd, Benji.  So loyal and a constant companion!    Motorcycles, snowmobiles, antique vehicles, and even a windrower gave many a ride to his favorite nieces and nephews for no other reason but to make them laugh.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Dvorak of Elma, IA; sisters Sharon Heying of North Washington and Connie (Joe) Burke of New Hampton; brother, Jerry (Barb) Dvorak of Decorah and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Truman in 1996,  sister-in-law, Barb (Price) Dvorak in 2002, and brother-in-law, Dan Heying.
