Ribbon cutting for Cresco Fitness Center 24/7 Access

CRESCO - A ribbon cutting to celebrate the Cresco Fitness Center and their brand new 24/7 access program drew a large crowd  on Monday, April 22.
After acquiring 24/7 access, in addition to new equipment, memberships have increased, with nearly 100 being upgraded to 24/7 access. All of the improvements were supported by the community, who raised $175,000. Dave Shaw, a local retired dentist, donated $60,000 as part of the effort, and was honored as being the one to cut the ribbon during the celebration.
The next phase of the Cresco Fitness Center was also announced, and supported by Cresco native Les Fields.
Fields graduated Crestwood High School in 1946, and participated in golf while enrolled. He received a scholarship from the University of Iowa for golf, and studied there before serving in the Korean War. In his lifetime, he started a band called the Turkey River All-Star Band in 1967, and won several golf titles. He is known as “The Golfer” in the tri-state area and won the Rochester Amateur, the Minnesota Amateur. The Rochester County Club dubbed Fields “The godfather of golf.”
