Quilts of Valor Presentation Honors Veterans at The Mighty Howard County Fair

June 27 — Amid the rides, food, and family fun at The Mighty Howard County Fair, a solemn and meaningful ceremony took place Saturday at Scheidel Plaza as local veterans were honored with Quilts of Valor.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation presents handmade quilts to service members and veterans touched by war as a symbol of comfort, healing, and appreciation for their sacrifice and service to the nation.

As fairgoers paused from the day’s festivities, those in attendance witnessed an emotional ceremony recognizing the bravery and dedication of the honored veterans. The presentation served as a reminder that, even in the midst of celebration, it is important to pause and thank those who have served our country.

During the service it was stated that the local Quilts of Valor chapter has given almost 500 quilts to local service members and veterans, an astonishing amount of work and sacrifice has gone into honoring our locals.
 
The Quilts of Valor ceremony added a heartfelt and patriotic moment to this year’s Howard County Fair, honoring heroes whose sacrifices continue to protect the freedoms enjoyed by all.
