Hyberger is new Cresco Youth Librarian

CRESCO - There is a new but also familiar face at the Cresco Public Library - Cresco Youth Librarian Jess Hyberger.

Jess may be new to the library, but she is definitely not new to Cresco. She grew up in Cresco and graduated from Crestwood in 1999 before moving to Iowa City, where she worked as a registered nurse for 20 years. She also earned her Master’s Degree in Health Advocacy from Mt. Mercy before moving back to Cresco in 2021.

In March 2024, she started working at the Cresco Library as the Teen Librarian. After serving this position for over one year, she recently changed duties to become the Youth Services Librarian.

“I moved back to Cresco (in 2021) to recovery from a surgery,” Hyberger said. “I love living in Cresco and I decided not to leave again.

“A few years ago, the Teen Librarian position opened up at the Cresco Library, which brought me here. With my Health Advocacy degree, I wanted to help teenagers, which is a crucial time in people’s lives.

“About one year ago, I took on the duties of the Youth Services Librarian, which covers kids age zero to 18. I start officially in this role on Nov. 22,” Hyberger noted.

Because of her passion for libraries, the new position fits Hyberger perfectly.
