Hovey graduates U.S. Marine Corps boot camp

DAKOTA, Minn. - Private Chaise M. Hovey, 18, of Dakota, Minn. graduated from the United States Marine Corps Recruit boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on July 21, 2017. Private Hovey successfully completed 13 weeks of intense basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 59 recruits in Platoon 3270.

While in recruit training Private Hovey achieved high expert for rifle qualification as well as earning recognition as platoon prayer leader.

Following 10 days home on leave he will report to Camp Pendleton for two months at Infantry Training Battalion. Private Hovey will then go to Virginia for specialty job training.

Private Hovey is the son of Tony and Carrie Hovey of Dakota, Minn. He is the grandson of Larry and Colleen Voves and Linda Hovey, all of Cresco.
