CRESCO - Sunday, Aug. 6, will offer ample entertainment, food and fun in Cresco as the town will host the 41st Annual Fly-In Breakfast and 62nd Annual Cresco Fine Arts Show.
The Fly-In Breakfast will be held at Ellen Church Field at the Cresco Airport from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The breakfast will feature all-you-can-eat omelets and pancakes. The cost is $12 per ticket. Children five and under will eat free.
Besides a delicious breakfast, one of the big attractions at the airport will be watching small engine planes landing and taking off as they come for breakfast. Folks can get a close-up view of the planes and talk to the pilots, who are happy to share their love of flying with interested individuals. Plane rides are also available.
Advance tickets for the Fly-In Breakfast are available at the Cresco Chamber of Commerce, Cresco Union Savings Bank and Cresco Bank & Trust.
The Cresco Fine Arts Show will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Beadle Park on Highway 9 in Cresco. In addition to several vendors selling artwork, there will also be entertainment, food and fun for kids of all ages.
During the 2023 Cresco Fine Arts Show, members of the Forte Milers Barbershop Chorus are scheduled to sing. There will also be food vendors, wine tastings, children’s activities and don’t forget to have a piece of pie!
The judge for the Cresco Fine Arts Show will be Ben Moore of Decorah. He was scheduled to serve as the judge during the 2022 event, but it was canceled because of the weather.
Moore earned his B.A. in art from Luther College in Decorah in 2001 and his M.F.A. in painting from the University of Iowa. He also studied print-making and drawing in Venice, Italy.
