CCT presents, 'The Play That Goes Wrong'

CRESCO - If you enjoy a hearty, rip-roaring laugh, then Cresco Community Theater has the perfect comedy for you - ‘The Play That Goes Wrong.’
CCT will present the comedy from July 13-15 at the Cresco Theatre and Opera House at 7:30 p.m. each night. The ticket price is $15, and they are available at CUSB, Cresco Bank and Trust, Cresco City Hall and the Cresco Chamber of Commerce.
Co-Directors Dave Gosch and Kelly Bartling are excited to bring this show to Cresco.
“This is a disastrous comedy,” Gosch said with a big smile. “This show was first presented by a group in England that graduated from drama school in 2012, and it became a smash hit. This group went on to present a weekly series of comedy skits that always go wrong.
“I found out about this show from social media, and I thought, ‘What is this?’ I started digging deeper and realized this was comedy gold,” Gosch said.
Gosch and Bartling noted there will be 15 local actors participating, which includes the cast and crew.
Cast and crew members include: Ashley Reicks, Jayne Jensen, Brian Schmidt, Jeff Murphy, Jackson Smith, Josh Moore, Daniel Allison, Emily Allison, Jenni Tupy, Gerard O’Rourke, Melissa Warren, Rick Nance, Paul Jensen, Barb Moore and Joe Wacha. The set was built by Tony Roberts. Jen Kurth is in charge of lights. Luke Jansen is in charge of the sound.
“With this comedy, the backstage people are probably more important than the people on the stage,” Gosch said. “The crew works just as hard, if not harder, than the actors.”
“I feel like our set is a cast member on its own,” Bartling said. “It’s probably the main cast member.”
