Turkey Valley boys rout Waukon, sweep two from Postville Pirates

 

WAUKON - The Turkey Valley baseball squad took advantage of solid hitting, fielding and pitching to earn an impressive 15-3 win in six innings over Waukon June 7.
Hosting Postville on June 8, the Trojans swept the Pirates, 15-0 and 13-0 to improve their overall record to 5-7.
Turkey Valley will play a doubleheader at North Fayette Valley on June 15, it will host New Hampton on June 16 and it will play at Gladbrook-Reinbeck on June 17.

Playing at Waukon June 7, the Trojans tallied 14 hits and took advantage of four Waukon errors during a 15-3 win.
“We played well in all phases of the game,” TV Coach Dan Stepan said.
The Trojans posted two runs each in the first and second innings, plated three runs each in the third and fourth, added two more in the fifth and three in the sixth to cruise to the win.
Evan Drilling tallied three runs, two hits, including one double, and had one run batted in. Cale Reicks posted three hits, including one double, had two runs and one RBI. Cody Hackman had three hits, including one double, two runs, one RBI and one stolen base.
Simon Schmitt had one hit and two RBI. Mason Goerend had two runs, one hit and one RBI. Wyatt Blazek had two hits, two RBI and one run. Evan Busta posted one run and one RBI. Jaden Bruess had one hit, one run and four RBI. Walker Leibold had one hit, one run and one RBI. Jordon Snyder scored two runs and had two stolen bases.
Josh Vsetecka was the winning pitcher for TV. He went six innings, allowed 10 hits, three runs (two earned), one walk and struck out four.

In game one, Turkey Valley pitcher Cale Reicks held the Pirates to three hits while the Trojan batters tallied 15 runs during a 15-0 rout in four innings.
“We pitched well, played great defense and really hit the ball well,” Stepan said. “It was good to play well in back to back games.”
The Trojans tallied four runs in the first, five in the second and six in the third.
Wyatt Blazek tallied three runs, three hits, including one double and one home run, and he racked up six RBI. Evan Drilling and Mason Goerend each scored two runs. Cale Reicks tallied two runs, two hits, including one double, and two RBI.
Cody Hackman had two runs, two hits, including one double, and two RBI. Simon Schmitt had two runs and one RBI. Evan Busta had three hits and two RBI. Jaden Bruess had one RBI. Walker Leibold had two runs and one hit.
Cale Reicks earned the win. He went four innings, allowed three hits and struck out seven batters.

In game two, TV pitcher Evan Busta limited the Pirates to only two hits while the Trojans broke the game open at the plate with seven runs in the third en route to a 13-0 win in five innings.
“It was a lot of the same in game two,” Stepan said. “It was a good week of all three phases of baseball for our team.”
The Trojans scored one run in the first, added seven in the third and scored four runs in the fourth.

Josh Vsetecka had one RBI. Kyle Langreck had one run, one hit and two RBI. Jordon Snyder and Garrison Kruse each scored one run.
Evan Busta earned the win. He pitched five innings, allowed two hits, three walks and struck out eight.
