Three Cadet Wrestlers will stand on podium

It was an exciting morning of wrestling for Crestwood wrestlers on Friday, Feb. 18, as Carter Fousek (138 pounds) advanced to the semifinals; Cole Butikofer (152), lost his first match, but won his second; and Cole Schmauss (113) advanced in the consolation round.
Fousek won a 12-0 major decision over Ty Koedam of Seargent Bluff-Luton in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Fousek posted a 14-6 major decision over Logan Powers of Roland-Story (41-5) to advance to the 138 championship match on Saturday. Fousek (24-1) will face Logan Arp (43-2) of South Tama County in the finals.
Butikofer lost his first match of the tournament on Friday morning against senior Garrett Seaba (41-3) of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on a 6-1 decision. In the first round on the consolation side of the bracket, he pinned senior Jaxson Rozeboom of Boyden Hull/Rock Valley, who had a record of 26-9, in 5:19. His next match, Butikofer (38-8) lost a 5-1 decision to Logan Peyton (36-9) of West Delaware. Butikofer will compete against Isaiah Fenten (46-6) in the seventh place match on Saturday morning.
Schmauss won his first match of the day by medical forfeit from junior Gavin Jensen (52-3) of Williamsburg. In his next match, Schmauss (39-5) won a 4-3 decision over senior Jack Showalter (45-7) of Hampton-Dumont. Schmauss will compete against Carson Doolittle of Webster City (35-3) in the consolation semifinals on Saturday morning. If Schmauss wins two more matches, he will place third.
