Six Crestwood wrestlers advance to State Tournament

INDEPENDENCE - The Class 2A No. 10 Crestwood wreslting team performed extremely well at the District Tournament in Independence on Saturday, Feb. 9, as six out of seven individuals advanced to the State Tournament, which begins on Feb. 14 in Des Moines.

Crestwood freshman Carter Fousek, ranked No. 3 in 2A, nabbed first place at 106 pounds to earn his first trip to State. Senior Kaden Anderlik, ranked No. 4, grabbed first place at 120 to earn his third trip to State, and he also improved his career win total to 159, which is a new Crestwood school record. Senior Colter Bye, ranked No. 3 at 170 pounds, nabbed fist place to earn his second trip to State. Sophomore Trey Burnikel captured first place at 195 pounds to earn his first trip to State. Wyatt Scheidel (220) and Stone Peckham (285) both placed second to punch their first tickets to State. Matthew Slifka placed third at 126 pounds.

The Class 2A Traditional State Tournament runs from Feb. 14 to Feb. 16 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The Cadets will also be competing in the Class 2A State Dual Team Tournament on Feb. 13 in Des Moines.
