No. 8 Cadet grapplers pin Vikes, Comets; nab second at MFL

CRESCO - Battling against Decorah and Charles City Thursday in Decorah, the Class 2A No. 8 Crestwood wrestling team performed well as the Cadets pinned the Vikings, 46-27; and crushed Charles City, 47-26.

The Cadets competed well at the MFL-Mar-Mac Tournament Saturday as they placed second with 174.5 points and crowned four champions. Crestwood champions included: Kaden Anderlik (113), Ryan Steffen (132), Colter Bye (138) and Trae Pecinovsky (152). With his three wins Saturday, Ryan Steffen surpassed 100 career wins. Steffen currently has 101 career victories.

MFL Mar-Mac Invite

Competing in Monona Saturday, the Cadets had 10 wrestlers finish in the top three in their individual weight classes, including four champions: Anderlik, Steffen, Bye and Pecinovsky.

Crestwood will take on the Oelwein Huskies Jan. 19 in Oelwein, and the Cadets will compete at Waverly Jan. 21.
