Four Crestwood boy cagers earn NEIC honors

CRESCO - Four Crestwood players from the boys’ basketball team recently nabbed All-Northeast Iowa Conference honors for the 2018-19 season.

Senior Zackary Lane was named First Team All-NEIC, and he was also named to the Class 2A All-Sub State Team. Senior Nathan Martinek and sophomore Carter Henry both earned Second Team honors. Senior Shane Vokaty received Honorable Mention.

The Cadets concluded the season with an overall record of 14-8, which included a 10-2 mark and first place in the NEIC. Waverly-SR was second in the conference at 8-4. Charles City and Oelwein tied for third at 7-5. Decorah finished 5-7, New Hampton was 4-8 and Waukon was 1-11. Crestwood’s Junior Varsity squad also won the NEIC regular season title at 11-1.

Lane led the Cadet varsity squad with 372 total points, was first in total rebounds with 141, tallied 18 three-pointers, dished out 36 assists, led the team with 14 blocks and had 16 steals.

Martinek posted 230 total points, led the Cadets with 36 three-pointers, had 66 rebounds, paced the team with 79 assists, had 12 steals and five blocks. Henry tallied 159 points, 109 rebounds, 77 assists and 27 steals. Vokaty recorded 96 points, made 12 three-pointers, had 46 rebounds, 34 assists and 12 steals.
