Drtina tallies first hole-in-one

CRESCO - Mark Drtina accomplished something every golfer who has ever sliced a five-wood into the woods or three-putted a green dreams about - a hole-in-one.

Drtina recorded his first career ace using a seven iron on hole number eight from the blue tees (110 yards) at the Cresco Country Club on July 21. 

“I was golfing with three of my friends that day including Shay Curtin, Mike Berg and Dennis Ferrie,” Drtina noted. “I was using Shay’s (seven iron) that day, and I’ve been using it  ever since. I saw the ball hit the green and roll right in. I was really excited along with everyone else in our group.”

Although he is not an avid golfer, he has hit the links on-and-off for almost 30 years. However, he noted this year is his first as a member of the Cresco Country Club.
