Crestwood wrestling team advances five individuals to State Tourney

NEW HAMPTON - Five Crestwood wrestlers finished in the top two in their respective weight classes at the Class 2A District Tournament on Feb. 12 in New Hampton to advance to the State Tournament, which starts on Feb. 17 in Des Moines.
Mitchell Schmauss (second place, 106 pounds); Cole Schmauss (second, 113); Kole Johnson (second, 120); Carter Fousek (first, 138); and Cole Butikofer (second, 152) all advanced to State for the Cadets. Fousek is Cresco/Crestwood HIgh School's second four-time district champion. Tom Peckham won four district titles for Cresco/Crestwood from 1959-1962.
