Crestwood wrestlers win sectional title, 10 advance to districts

CRESCO - The Crestwood varsity boys' wrestling team grabbed first place at the Class 2A Sectional Tournament in Cresco on Saturday, Feb. 5 with 272.5 points, and the Cadets advanced 10 individuals to the District Tournament scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12 in New Hampton. By placing first at sectionals, the Cadets qualified for the Team Region Dual Tournament at home on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.

The 10 Cadets who qualified for districts by placing in the two top included: Mitchell Schmauss (first place, 106 pounds); Cole Schmauss (first, 113); Kole Johnson (first, 120); Cade Korsmo (second, 126); Ethan Govern (second, 132); Carter Fousek (first, 138); Cole Butikofer (first, 152); Landen Schemmel (first, 195); Drew Jackson (first, 220); and Brayden Ishman (second, 285).
