CRESCO - The Crestwood girls’ golf team notched its first dual win of the season last Monday with a 228-236 victory over Oelwein at the Cresco Country Club.
Crestwood’s Hailey Panos earned medalist honors with a round of 53. Other Cadet scores included: Ashley Voves 56, Megan Ferrie 58, Haley Martin 61, Katie Huhe 68 and Isabella Lehmkuhl 60.
Oelwein scores: Hailey Scott 53, Madison Meyer 60, Sydney Gefaller 70.
“It was great getting in our first official meet,” Cadet Coach Jason Sorenson said. “ I am proud of the mental toughness the girls showed in the cold and misty weather. They stayed very positive and really focused on hitting one shot at a time.
“We gained some good experience on the course as many of the girls were playing in their first high school golf meet. It was a close meet and really a nice victory,” Sorenson said.
WSR 229, Cadets 238
Taking on Waverly-Shell Rock Friday at home, the Cadet girls’ golf team lost to W-SR, 229-238.
Ashley Voves earned medalist honors with a round of 55. Hailey Panos was runner-up at 57. Other Cadet scores included: Haley Martin 61, Karley Freidhof 68, Kryslynn Ruppert.
W-SR scores included: Emma Robson 58, Sabrina Cames 55, Sydney Schwartz 58, Paige Kane 58.
“With the band trip we were down to only five players,” Coach Sorenson said. “I am extremely proud of the effort and attitude shown by the girls."
