Crestwood girl, boy cross country teams second at home meet

CRESCO - On a great day to run, the Cadet varsity girls’ and boys’ cross country teams both grabbed second on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Crestwood Invitational held at the Cresco Country Club.
Sumner-Fredericksburg tallied 38 points in the varsity girls’ meet to take the top spot. Crestwood was second with 55 points. In the varsity boys’ meet, New Hampton won the title with 25 points, and the Cadets took second with 54 points.
In the varsity girls’ race, Turkey Valley senior Jalyssa Blazek won gold in a time of 20:41.0 seconds. Cadet senior Kendel Slavin placed fourth in a time of 22:19.1.
The varsity boys’ race saw Dylan Usher of New Hampton nab first in 18:19.5. Crestwood’s Dominic Bigalk was second in 18:48.8, and teammate Ethan Govern took third in 18:58.1
Both Crestwood Junior Varsity squads also finished second in the team standings. The Cadet girls’ team scored 43 points, and the Blue and White boys’ team posted 40 points.
