Cadet track and field teams perform well at Decorah Invite

DECORAH - Competing for the first time this season, the Crestwood girls’ and boys’ track and field teams turned in several solid performances at the Decorah Invitational held on March 19 at Luther College. No team scores were recorded.
Teams that competed at the meet included: Central Elkader, Crestwood, Decorah, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (Wis.), Holmen (Wis.), Lansing Kee, Logan (Wis.), North Iowa, Onalaska (Wis.) and South Winn.
Cadet boys shine
Crestwood junior Maurice Powell had an outstanding day as he finished in the top four in three events. Powell won gold in the 55 meter dash in 6.76 seconds, took first in the 200 meter dash in 23.82 and was fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 0.5 inches.
Girls compete well
In the girls’ meet, Kaylee Johnson placed second for the Cadets in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches, which was a personal record. Kinze Shea took second in the 3000 meters in 11:34.86.
Crestwood’s 4x800 relay team of Kyleigh Foster, Olivia Ollendick, Laney Peter and Kendel Slavin placed second in the 4x800 relay in a team record time of 10:55.42.
