Cadet girls edge West Delaware, 3-2; one win from State

MANCHESTER - Two wins down, and one more to go.
Crestwood freshman Emma Rissman scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to give the Cadet softball team a thrilling 3-2 win over No. 15 West Delaware on Friday, July 7 in the Class 3A Region 4 Semifinal.
The win allows the Cadets (24-8) to advance to the region final Monday, July 10 at 7 p.m. against No. 7 Center Point-Urbana (28-10) at Center Point-Urbana. The region final winner will advance to the Class 3A State Tournament in Fort Dodge, which will be held from July 17-21.
In the top of the sixth, the Cadets broke a scoreless tie when Crestwood senior Lauren Reicks ripped a double to drive in Laken Lienhard and Shannon Pisney to give the Cadets a 2-0 lead. West Delware tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, Kaylee Thomas led off the inning with a double, and Emma Rissman came in as a courtesy runner. Rissman moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kristen Reicks, and she scored on a wild pitch by West Delaware pitcher Emily Klostermann.
