Blockhus nabs Academic All-Big Ten honors

MINNEAPOLIS - Michael Blockhus, a 2015 Crestwood wrestling State Champion and current member of the University of Minnesota Wrestling team, earned Academic All-Big Ten honors recently.
Blockhus, formerly Millage, competed on the Crestwood wrestling team from 2014 to 2016. He won a State Title in 2015 and placed second at State in 2016. He nabbed State Championships at New Hampton in 2017 and 2018.
Competing at the 2022 Big Ten Tournament on March 10, Blockhus placed fifth at 149 pounds to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten merits, student-athletes must be on a varsity team, have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. 
Blockhus was one of 16 members of the Gophers’ Wrestling team to earn Academic honors.
A total of 232 Maroon & Gold student-athletes have now earned Academic All-Big Ten honors after 130 Gophers were recognized in the fall.
