All the latest news and information about the Cresco Public Library is now available on its new website, http://www.cresco.lib.ia.us.
The Cresco Public Library is one of nearly 300 Iowa public libraries to receive training through PLOW (Putting Libraries on the Web). PLOW is part of a $749,000 Staying Connected grant awarded to the State Library of Iowa from the bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to sustain and expand pubic access computing in Iowa public libraries. The grant also includes technical support, training, and Internet capability.
Our new website contains valuable information about the library, including a list of new books, research tools, demographic information on Cresco, Howard and Winneshiek counties, and links to high quality resources such as health, local and national news, genealogy, and full-text magazine databases.
You can also keep up with the library’s upcoming events and view photos from previous library programs. A calendar of library events will be continually updated. Some of my favorite features on the new website are the tabs for books and reading and for the catalog. By clicking on books and reading, you will discover a wealth of information from book reviews to websites which list author by genre. If you click on catalog, you can access our card catalog 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For instance, you can search the library for a book at 11 p.m. while in your pajamas and enjoying a late night snack. If the book is in, you can pop into the library first thing the next morning to check it out- just remember to change out of those pj’s first! Visit the new Cresco Public Library website soon and find a world of information at your fingertips.
