Economic stimulus begins at home. Starting May 2nd we will be receiving our Economic Stimulus checks from the government. The Cresco Area Chamber of Commerce hopes that we spend that money wisely and are aware of where we choose to do our shopping, fill-up with gas and eat a meal.
     Did you know every dollar in our local economy turns at least six times. You put gas in your car and that pays the employees of the gas station, that gas station employee shops at the hardware store and that pays the employees of the hardware store. That employee shops at the grocery store and the cycle continues supporting our restaurants, apparel stores, automotive services, convenience stores, medical services, childcare providers and other local businesses. These businesses are all available locally, which means less time in your car and more time with your family. You can’t put a price on that. However, you can directly see the fact the gas prices are extremely high and will continue to rise. Don’t forget that 1% local option tax goes directly back into our school district. By going outside our county you are helping those other school districts pay their bills. These are also the same businesses that support our many worthy civic, school and charitable activities throughout our community.
    When you receive your check from the government this week or in the next few weeks make the choice to BUY LOCAL & SHOP CRESCO!
