I can hardly believe that I am into my third term as Mayor of Cresco. As the old adage says, ‘Time flies when you are having fun.’ This has been a wonderful learning experience and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I will use this column to talk to you about what’s happening with the City of Cresco and what I hope to see happen in our community.
As I sit and look out my window and see snow again, I decided this would be an appropriate time to say a special thank you to all our city employees for getting us through this winter. The street crews have worked day and night to move the snow and keep us all on the move. The water and sewer departments have been busy fixing broken mains and locating water leaks, thankless jobs on these cold and stormy winter days.
Thanks to our Fitness Center, Park & Rec and Library Staffs for all the time they have spent on their winter programs and entertaining our children on all the school snow days. Remember, better days are soon to come, with April just around the corner. Did I hear someone say, ‘T-Ball’ and ‘Summer Reading’?
Thank you to our Police and Fire Departments, who are on the job 24/7 to keep us safe in our community. Thank you to the staff at City Hall, they keep us all going. Budgets, water bills-a city’s work is never done. In talking with other communities, I realize how fortunate we are to have the city employees we do, and the experience and expertise they bring to their departments. Again, on behalf of our community, I thank you all.
