Cresco, Iowa -

    Funeral services for Geralda E. Anderson of Cresco were held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, IA. Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Allen Vik officiated. Organist was Kathy Murray. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace", "Nearer My God to Thee" and "On Eagle's Wings". Pallbearers were: Mike Chase, Debbie Friesen, Jacob Friesen, Jeff Friesen, Glen Gray and Lynette Smith. Interment was in Pontoppidan Cemetery in rural Decorah, IA.
    Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, IA and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
    Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, IA handled the arrangements.
    Geralda, 80, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, IA after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
    Geralda Elaine Anderson was born on March 6, 1928 at home in Becker County, Minnesota, the first child of Harold and Inga (Gunderson) Chase. She attended rural schools before moving to Decorah where she met and married Leonard O. Anderson on May 15, 1945. They became the parents of Karen Kay and Dennis Arden.
    The family spent several years in Winneshiek County before moving to Detroit Lakes, MN. Here the Andersons enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and the great outdoors.
    Geralda loved birds and angels. She had collections for both of them. After retirement Leonard and Geralda moved back to Decorah to be near family and friends.
    She is survived by her brothers, sister and sister-in-law: Wayne and Carol Chase of Detroit Lakes, MN, Gale Chase and Laura of Minneapolis, MN, June and Glen Gray of Andover, MN, and Sharon (Mrs. Etzel) Chase of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother-in-law and nine sisters-in-law: Rueben (Donna) Anderson, Pearl Davidson, Louise Vander Sanden, Lorraine (Roger) Nolden all of Sun Prairie, WI, Florence Wilmot of Clarksville, Arlene Hogenson of Decorah, Verna (Willard) Hanson of Decorah, Ellen (Arland) Brown of Mabel, MN, Gladys (Lawrence) Hageman of Cresco and Gloria Anderson of Waunakee, WI.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, on April 18, 2007; her daughter, Karen; her son, Dennis; and her brother, Etzel Chase.
