Funeral services for Donald "Don" J. Beck of New Hampton, IA were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home Chapel in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Pallbearers were: Richard Baethke, David Baethke, Susan Norman, Cindy Stover, Diane Powell, and Cassie Hackman. Interment was in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton, IA.
    Visitation was held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home Chapel in New Hampton.

    Donald, 65, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
    Donald John Beck was born October 21, 1942 at Riceville, the son of John A. and Nellie Mae (Peterson) Beck. The family moved to a farm west of New Hampton when Don was young. He attended country grade school where he was taught for a time by his older sister. He was a 1960 graduate of New Hampton High School. Don joined the Army National Guard after graduation. He farmed the family farm with his parents and was a care giver to his mother in her later years.
    He enjoyed farming, fishing, New Hampton High School sporting events and wintering in Texas.
    Don is survived by one sister: Dorothy (Orville) Baethke of Elma; one brother: Dale (Shirley) Beck of New Hampton; two nephews; four nieces; and many great nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
