CRESCO - Wendel C. Slifka, age 57, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Dec. 25, 2017.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the New Oregon Cemetery, conducted by Pastor Mike Simiele.
A lunch will be served at the VFW Hall immediately following the burial, and all are welcome. If there is inclement weather, services will be conducted at the VFW Hall.
Wendel was born June 17, 1960 in Waterloo, Iowa to Martin and Joann (Saathoff) Slifka. He is a graduate of Cedar Falls High School.
Most of his life he lived in New Hartford, Iowa, LaCrosse, Wis. or the Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Iowa areas. Wendel was a train enthusiast and could identify any train engine he saw. He had the opportunity to work as a train engineer when he lived in LaCrosse.
He is survived by his father, Martin Slifka and friend, Nedra Peterson of Cresco; his mother, Joann Slifka of Waterloo; a sister, Wanda (Gary) Lenius of Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous cousins and other relatives.
