Fort Atkinson - Vivian Phillips, age 84, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, died on her birthday, Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at Accura HealthCare in Cresco, Iowa, where she has lived for the past 10 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 13, 2018 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa, with Father Aaron Junge. Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Vivian Marcella (Frana) Phillips was born on Oct. 10, 1934 the daughter of William and Lillian (Jirak) Frana in Howard County, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Lourdes, Iowa and married Richard Phillips on Oct. 1, 1952 in Lourdes. Together they had seven children.
Vivian’s family meant everything to her, and she thoroughly enjoyed time spent with them. She loved to read, crochet and take care of her many house plants. To her, going to church meant going to the “most peaceful place on earth.”
Vivian is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard; daughters, Cath-erine (Steven) Brandt of Redwood Falls, Minn. and Darlene (Loren) Straube of Spillville; sons, Thomas Phillips of Cresco, Richard (Rose) Phillips of Fort Atkinson, Vincent Phillips of Cresco and Lawrence (Christy) Phillips of Dunkerton, Iowa; grandchildren, David (Jessica) Phillips, Eric (Alaina) Phillips, Maria (Stephen) Kingsbury, Christina (Stew-art) Otting, Tom Straube, Kurt Straube, Matt (Abby) Straube, Cathy (Jeff Kimber) Straube and Amanda Phillips; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brinlee and Alexis Phillips, June Kingsbury, Graham Otting, Connor and Carson Straube, Gracelyn and Griffin Straube and Kiah and Gavin Kimber; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Frana of Waterloo, Iowa and Ethel Frana of Cresco.
Vivian was preceded in death by her son, Ronald; parents, William and Lillian (Jirak) Frana; siblings, Donald Frana, Edmund Frana, Wilma (Austin) Blomgren and Jean (Loren) Frymire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emma (Alois) Ryant, Rudolph (Eileen) Phillips, Paul Phillips, Regina (August) Shindelar, George (Mary) Phillips and Marie Phillips.
