Nonprofits to be showcased at expo

Cresco, Iowa -

    In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Cresco Chamber of Commerce and Howard County Economic Development will host a Volunteer Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Expo Center at the Howard County Fairgrounds.
    The Northeast Iowa Volunteer Expo, will showcase 37 nonprofit groups and organizations in northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota, in an effort to celebrate volunteerism and to bring awareness to the public of the many local groups that exist.
    Volunteers from each nonprofit will be present to educate community members about services and events they provide. The event will also serve as a recruitment drive for the groups.
    Organizations that will be present include: Cresco Chamber of Commerce; Howard County Economic Development; Howard County Hospice; American Red Cross; Helping Services of Northeast Iowa; Regional Health Services Hospital Auxiliary; RSVP ­– Northeast Iowa; Lidtke Mill; Knights of Columbus; Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation; CASA (court appointed special advocates); Cresco Fine Arts Council; Howard Residential Care Facility Auxiliary; Cresco Community Theatre; Wa-Tan-Ye; Cresco SHARE; Camp Jornada Foundation; Howard County EMS; Cresco Retail Committee;  HoCA; PSRT; Cresco Saddle Club; Decorah Elks Lodge; Kiwanis Club; Crestwood Key Club; Howard County Historical Society; Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation; American Legion Auxiliary; Elm Street Singers; Food & Fitness; Midwest Mission Bible Training Center; Driftrunners; Howard County Genealogy Society and the Tri-State Amateur Radio Club.
    The Cresco Retail Committee’s Quilt Sale will also be held at the expo. Over 100 Pine Needles display quilts will be for sale. A lunch stand will also be open and raffle drawings will take place throughout the day.
    Admission to the Northeast Iowa Volunteer Expo is free to the public.
