Tony Tremmel, Cresco Community Lions Club member, chats with Mary Ann Billmyer at the Northeast Iowa Volunteer Expo last Saturday. Forty-one nonprofit organizations set up booths at the first-ever event at the Expo Center at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Chamber of Commerce Director Randy Mashek said between 300 and 400 people attended the expo. Mashek said the event was successful and he hopes to hold it again next year.
    Over 35 Pine Needles quilts were sold at the quilt auction the same day. Pine Needles will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to the Retail Committee.
