Cresco, Iowa -

Natural gas customers of Aquila are encouraged to report any noticeable sign of gas leakage to the company’s customer service at 800-303-0357. Most often people can smell a gas leak because of the unpleasant odor. This odor is added to natural gas to alert people that they are in an area where gas is leaking.
If you are inside a house or other building and smell gas you should leave the house or building immediately and then report the situation to Aquila’s customer service center from a location other than the immediate area. A qualified Aquila service technician will be dispatched to check for gas leaks in the home or building and either make or recommend that a certified contractor be hired to make any necessary repairs.
“We work very hard to maintain the integrity of our systems and part of that task is to make sure our customers know what to do, if they smell gas,” says Bonnie Gilbert, operations supervisor in Decorah.
Aquila provides natural gas service to more than 1,802 customers in Cresco and has served the community since 1961.
