Lime Springs - On Aug. 31, an individual reported a theft of tools from his construction trailer to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department. He is building a pole shed at A&K and discovered numerous tools used in construction were missing.
Some of the bigger items are a generator, an air compressor, 20 Milwaukee batteries, roofing, framing and joist hanger nailers, several Milwaukee and DeWalt saws, five Milwaukee impacts and a hammer drill.
At 7:47 that evening, Sheriff's office took a report of a kayak stolen on West Main St. The victim said the kayak was strapped down on a trailer and the tie down straps were cut. The kayak is a tangerine-colored, 10-foot Sun Dolphin.
On the morning of Sept. 1 at 4:37, at a different location on West Main St., a call came from a woman who heard one of her windows break on W. Main St. The neighbors saw some kids running.
Deputy Tim Beckman stated, “We would like to remind people in Lime Springs to remain watchful and keep their houses and vehicles locked. If they see any suspicious people, to try to get a good description and to contact the sheriff's office.”
Also taking place is a Publisher’s Clearing House scam. The caller tells the person over the phone they have a large sum of money or a car, and all they have to do is wire them money. Beckman reminds locals to never give out personal information or wire any money.
