A two-vehicle accident involving a passenger car and a semi-tractor trailer left two injured Monday morning. The accident, which occurred on U.S. Hwy. 63, approximately one mile northwest of Lime Springs, was reported at approximately 10:21 a.m. Monday.
The northbound passenger car was heading north in the southbound lane when the accident occurred. Corina Sanborn, 27, of Chatfield, Minn., was driving the 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Albert Snyder, 59, of Masonville was operating the southbound 2007 Kenworth tractor with attached livestock trailer.
The point of impact took place at the west edge of the highway.
Sanborn’s car was rendered a complete loss. The Kenworth tractor sustained major damages.
Both drivers were transported to Regional Health Services of Howard County by ambulance. Snyder was treated for a knee injury and later released. Sanborn had multiple injuries with her condition listed as stable.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, with charges pending against Sanborn to include failing to yield one half of the roadway.
Area first responders, Lime Springs Fire Department, Regional Health Ambulance Services and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
