A two-vehicle accident took place near the intersection of Hwy. 9 and US Hwy. 63 at 3:38 p.m. May 23.
Hannah R. Lorius of Harmony, Minn. was traveling east on Hwy. 9 when she became distracted and crossed over the center line, according to a Howard County Sheriff’s Department report.
Patricia J. Voight of New Hampton was driving west on Hwy. 9 when she noticed Lorius’ vehicle in her lane. Voight steered to the left to avoid hitting Lorius’ car, but Lorius was swerving back into her lane at the same time. Lorius then turned left and struck Voight’s car.
Both were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Lorius was charged with failure to yield half of the roadway.
Howard County Ambulance, Cresco Area First Responders and Cresco Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
