Holiday concert on Dec. 1

—Crestwood Junior and Senior High students preformed

CRESCO - The holiday season is here in full force. Most have put up their Christmas trees and finished, if not gotten a good start on, the holiday season shopping. Sightings of Santa and Mrs. Claus are common and the Christmas parade, only a few weeks ago, is a sweet memory. This past Friday the holiday was ushered in with the sound of music; that is, the holiday concert held at Crestwood High School.
On Dec. 1, 7:30 pm, the Crestwood Junior and Senior High Vocal Music Department, under the direction of Karen LeFebvre and accompaniment of Kimberly Becker-Lehmkuhl, brought together family and friends to listen to holiday music selections at the CHS Auditorium.
The Junior High Choir, boasting 89 children, was split into two sections. The first practices two to three days per week. This group performed I’m Gonna Sing and Shout by Dave and Jean Perry and The First Noel/Pachelbel’s Canon by Clawson. A treat added to this choral performance was guest accompanist, Chloe Rice, who took to the keyboard.
The second group, Junior High Mixed Choir, performed, A Christmas Wish by Carl Strommen, Shepherds’ Rock Carol arranged by Roberta Black and Glad Noel by Mark Wilson. This second group of students are also in band, so they practice when band practice is not held.
After the junior high performances, the Concert Choir, which meets every day, and is composed of ninth graders and a few sophomores, performed. Their three selections for the evening were Three Songs of Nature by Jerry Estes, A Carol of Hope by Don Besig and Nancy Price and Slow Rockin’ Christmas by Jay Althouse.
