Two University of Iowa graduate students recently accompanied Cresco native Benje Tallman around town to shoot footage of Tallman recollecting what it was like to grow up in a small town setting.
Derek Turesky and Jay Greenfeld, who shot the footage, and Tallman are all in the University of Iowa’s counseling psychology doctoral program. The documentary-style film will be used as a training tool for psychology doctorates across the country. The educational film, which focuses on social class, is one in a series of similar videos which range in topics relating to psychology course work. The project is funded by the University of Iowa.
Tallman, 26, the son of Jackie and Mike Tallman, will be entering his fifth year in the University’s program. He is focusing on research and clinical work in health psychology, with an emphasis on the quality of life of cancer patients. He completed a double major in sociology and psychology at Coe College before going on to the University of Iowa.
