Dollar Fresh opens June 26

CRESCO - Dollar Fresh will open its doors to customers in Cresco at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 26, at the former Shopko building at 22422 Hwy. 9 West.

Locals are excited to have another option for groceries, wines and spirits, clothing, shoes, fuel and ready-to-eat meals, and Dollar Fresh fits the need.

It will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The store manager is Andrew Olson.

Kevin Mills, VP of Dollar Fresh, is excited to bring the brand to Cresco. He said, “We are selling at the lowest prices with the freshest produce.”

Jeremy Low, District Store Director of the local Dollar Fresh and future manager of Decorah Hy-Vee, explained, “Cresco is just the second new format Dollar Fresh store to open. Vinton opened on May 22. There were other Dollar Fresh stores that opened and have some similarities.

“Every time we opened a store, we learned something. When Waukon opens [in mid-July], it will be a very similar format with slight differences.” The Decorah store will open in September.

He went on to say the concept behind the store is based entirely on its name.

“Dollar makes a person think of good deals,” Low noted.

Some of the savings customers can expect to see include lower prices, which includes the company’s own private label brand — Food Club. There is also a Dollar Deals section.

Patrons can earn money off fuel (per gallon) on certain items with a fuel saver card. The pumps are open 24 hours a day for pay-at-the-pump; or fuel can paid for inside during store hours.

The store will only have self-checkout lanes [except for the fuel and lottery lane]. This savings will be passed onto the customer.

 

Dollar Fresh

Besides low prices, the company is focusing on “fresh” — freshly baked goods and fresh produce, fresh meat, freshly prepared food.

Grab-and-go food will be found in the northeast side of the store and includes prepared hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, fried items, fountain pop and more.

Other food is prepared, and busy moms and dads or others can stop in and pick up a meal time pizza, Asian entre, DiLusso salads and so much more.

 

Other departments

In addition to the specialty areas above, Dollar Fresh has a wine and spirits area, Wall of Value, health and beauty with a large selection of cosmetics, shoes from DSW and clothing from Joe Fresh.

Besides saving the customer money on its products, the company is also trying to save them time, by offering aislesonline.com, where shoppers can choose products and pay on-line and have curb-side pickup.

A pharmacy has been built into the store, but is not open at this time. Low said plans are to add the department at a future date.
