Celebrations at Chester, Ridgeway scheduled

HOWARD COUNTY - When it comes to summer, life don’t get any better than attending local “hometown” celebrations! This weekend there will be two to attend in Howard County with Old Settler’s Day in Chester and Ridgeway Days.  
Both celebrations are packed full of entertainment, food and fun with both communities offering live bands and more. 
 
• Chester Old Settler’s Day - Will take place on Saturday, June 10, celebrating 165 years!  All events will take place at the City Park, unless noted otherwise.  
Offered are: 
~ Tractor Pull is set starting at 10 a.m. with weigh-ins starting at 9 a.m. (will be in a different area of town).
~ Basketball Skills Camp for ages 8 on up will start at 9:30 on the basketball court. 
~ Flea Market goes from 10 to 4 with crafts and food vendors, including a Fat-T’s Food Truck and Good Vibes Coffee.
~ Kiddy Events will take place starting at 11.
~ Free ice cream sponsored by Cray Insurance from 12 noon to 2:30.
~ Kiddy Old Fashioned Games start at 1, Bingo from noon to 2. 
~ Chester Softball Cow Bingo at the softball field will begin at 3 p.m.
~ Ice Cream Social at the Community Center featuring Brian Lewis with some 50s & 60s music, from 4 to 6.
~ Starting at 8 p.m. will be “The Chubs” band at Laddy’s. 
 
• Ridgeway Days - Will feature two days of activities with Softball on Friday, June 9 and many events, including two lived bands, on Saturday, June 10. 
~ A Co-ed Softball Tournament will start on Friday, June 9.
at Gissleson Park, running through 12 midnight. It will resume on Saturday.
~  The 4-H Lincoln Leaders Club will host a 5K run/walk starting at 8 a.m. with registration at 7 a.m. 
~ A Bean Bags Tournament will start at 12:30 p.m. with registration at 11:30 a.m. sponsored by Fireman’s Inn.  Only 24 teams will be allowed, with prize money going to the top three teams. 
~ At 4 p.m. the live band “Country Cousins” will start playing at the Ridgeway Community Center Parking Lot. The gates actually open for the Beer Garden at 3:30 with a small admission fee asked, where you can also watch the two bands. 
~ At 8 p.m. the Pilots of the Airwaves will take the stage.
