Crestwood student to throw prom for senior citizens

Michael Stevenson, a senior at Crestwood High School, is in the process of organizing a free prom for area senior citizens. The prom will take place from noon to 4 p.m. April 13 at the Expo Center.

Early childhood programs to hold open house

The Cresco Head Start is holding an open house for fall enrollment at the Head Start preschool located at 329 8th Ave. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, from 3-6 p.m.

Hay Expo to return to northeast Iowa in 2008

The 2008 Farm Progress Hay Expo will return to northeast Iowa this summer. The largest two-day hay event in the country will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25 and 26 near Ossian.

Elvis concert provides entertainment, generates business

The word spread fast that Brad Boice, an Elvis impersonator, along with his band, is coming to Cresco. Boice will hold a concert and dance from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Expo Center Feb. 16. The doors will open at 7 p.m.

School early dismissal rescheduled

The early dismissal for the Howard-Winneshiek Community School District that was scheduled for Jan. 30 and then cancelled due to weather has been rescheduled. The early dismissal will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, and will be a two hour late start.
