Fifth grade students from schools throughout the Howard-Winneshiek Community School District and Notre Dame Catholic School spent time learning about natural resources  at Prairie's Edge Nature Center on Thursday, Natural Resources Day.

    The Seniors Against Investment Fraud through the RSVP volunteer program is warning seniors and others to be aware of fraudulent email and activity aimed at stimulus payments.

    Crestwood Alternative High School will relocate next fall, leaving its current downtown location and moving into the Heritage Events Center.

    Six high school freshmen were transferred to Regional Health Services of Howard County last Wednesday afternoon after a 15-year-old driver lost control of her car.

Forty-one nonprofit organizations set up booths at the first-ever event at the Expo Center at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Chamber of Commerce Director Randy Mashek said between 300 and 400 people attended the expo. Mashek said the event was successful and he hopes to hold it again next year.

    Colonial Manor Nursing Home is collaborating with The University of Iowa College of Nursing on a special project aimed at working on issues in the lives of residents of nursing homes.
